Who will replace Conte as Tottenham Hotspurs' next permanent manager?

It’s the Premier League breakup story that everyone saw coming.

After THAT post-match rant in which he threw the players, club set up and owner under the bus, Antonio Conte has finally left his role as Tottenham Hotspur head coach by mutual consent.

The Italian looked like the solution to Tottenham’s long running problems back when he was hired back in November 2021, as owner Daniel Levy sought to end the club’s 15 year trophy drought.

But he leaves Spurs 20 points short of league leaders Arsenal and having suffered eliminations from all three cup competitions this season.

Conte’s assistant Cristian Stellini will now step into the dugout for the rest of the season. But who is most likely to be installed as Tottenham Hotspur’s new permanent manager?

All odds courtesy of Northstar Bets.

The Galactico: Luis Enrique (+1200)

Out of work since quitting the Spanish top job in the wake of La Roja's disappointing World Cup Campaign, Luis Enrique is the most decorated name in the frame.

The 52 year old absolutely killed it as head coach of Barcelona, guiding the Catalan giants to a Champions League trophy, two La Liga titles, three Copa del Reys, and a Super Cup and Club World Cup.

Could Enrique be the man to guide Spurs to a first piece of silverware since 2008?

The Understudy:  Ryan Mason (+200)

Ryan Mason is a former Spurs player who’s promising career was cut short due to injury. Having moved into various coaching roles at his boyhood club, 31-year old Mason had a spell as interim boss in the wake of Jose Mourinho’s departure back in 2021.

He won three of his four games in charge and may feel his time has come to be given the role on a permanent basis next season. At only 31 his age may count against him though…

The Favourite: Julian Nagelsmann (-200)

Julian Nagelsmann is only four years older than Mason, but the German already has a seriously stacked resumé.

Nagelsmann guided lowly Hoffenheim to their first ever Champions league qualification and then took RB Leipzig to the UCL semi-finals in the 2019–20 season.

At Bayern Munich the 35 year old won the Bundesliga in his first season in charge as well claiming successive DFL-Supercup titles. But despite being just a point off the league top spot, Bayern sacked Nagelsmann last week and installed ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel as his replacement.

Nagelsmann looks a good fit on paper, but he’s untested in the Premier League and apparently had a fractious relationship with the dressing room. Spurs fans might argue could make him a lot like Conte….

The Outsider: Roberto de Zerbi (+2000)

Brighton’s Roberto de Zerbi has arguably been one of the most impressive Premier League managers this season.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk boss has guided the Seagulls to 7th in the table since taking over from Graham Potter last September, and the 43 year old also impressed in Serie A - outperforming as head coach of lowly Sassuolo.

Brighton beat Spurs back in October but they’ve failed to take points from any other top 4 teams this season.

The Fan’s Favourite: Mauricio Pochettino (+500)

The return of former manager Mauricio Pochettino would be a big hit with fans, but it's unclear whether the Argentine would want to step back into Daniel Levy’s orbit.

The 50 year old held the top job at Spurs for five years from 2014, and took the North London club all the way to the Champions League final in the 2016-17 season.

He went on to manage the big personalities of PSG and would definitely give the Spurs dressing room a much needed boost should he be persuaded to return for a second stint in North London.
