At age 36, Alex Ovechkin has put the rest of the NHL on notice: he still has a ton of gas left in the tank, and as the league leader in goals, has his sights set on staying hot, hot, hot against Detroit!

Ovechkin and the Capitals have picked up points in all six games this season and are coming off a seven-goal performance in Ottawa on Monday night.

Led by a T.J. Oshie hat-trick, Washington’s game against the Senators at times looked more like an arcade-style NHL 22 matchup than a real NHL game, with both teams combining for 12 goals on 68 shots. Literally a dream game for team over!

If you’re the Caps, hosting Detroit is an unbelievable chance to keep the goals coming.

The Red Wings are wrapping up a three-game road trip that has included a 6-1 pounding by the lowly Habs, and they’ve yet to win a game against a meaningful opponent this season.

With that being said, Red Wings winger Tyler Bertuzzi trails Ovechkin by one goal in the Rocket Richard race

And gainst a Washington defence that lets opponents fire on net at will, there should be tons of goals at both ends on Wednesday night.

Here are my picks:

·    Slam over 6 goals at -120 and you could be counting your cash by the second intermission

·    Take Washington on the 3-way moneyline at -141
