Back in Britain, back in Blue, and back in business - Romelu Lukaku was at his clinical best in Chelsea’s three-nil demolition of Aston Villa. 

The powerful forward displayed all the qualities that Chelsea lacked last season - a constant physical presence up front, quick intelligent runs AND ruthless finishing in front of goal.

But Chelsea’s standout player was arguably in the midfield, where Croatian Mateo Kovačić put in a stellar performance.

Wearing Frank Lampard's iconic number 8 jersey, Kovačić was at his box-to-box best, pulling the strings and picking out passes - AND scoring Chelsea’s second with a beautifully taken goal.

Back in Red, and back in the running - Ronaldo gave Man Utd the mother of makeovers with two goals in a 4-1 win over Newcastle.

With Cristiano leading the line, Utd looked like a completely different team - and suddenly Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team had the feel of genuine title contenders at last.

With his serial winner mentality in the locker room, Man Utd’s underperforming stars have nowhere to hide, and as a talismanic striker who can lift the crowd and score at will - Ronaldo looks to have changed the team’s fortune on a dime.

In their bottom of the table clash against Norwich, Arsenal finally got some points on the board in a 1-0 victory that denied us a clean sweep of picks last weekend. 

Aubameyang scored the Gunner’s first league goal of the season and lifted his team four positions in the table to just above the drop zone.Whether that’s enough to make Arteta’s position secure- only time will tell.
