Struggling Canadiens in tough against former Hab Kotkaniemi and Carolina

The Canadiens and Hurricanes provided us a great lesson in creating a rivalry this offseason: If you can’t get even, get petty. 

It’s the return of Jesperi Kotkaniemi to Montreal on Thursday night, after an offseason that saw the Carolina Hurricanes snap him up off the Canadiens roster with a rare RFA offer sheet. 

Yes, the petty pencil-and-paper rivalry gets a payoff tonight, with Carolina hoping to swoop in and vulture a vulnerable Canadiens team that has looked pretty awful en route to starting the season with four straight losses. 

And hey, realistically, the Habs aren’t going to go the whole season without a win, but we can always hope that they will! And tonight we’re hoping the Hurricanes add to the issues, take Carolina to win on the road -120.
