Norway’s odds shrink…as Spain send themselves to EURO 2024
The EURO 2024 qualifiers are in full swing, and as match day eight concluded, Spain emerged victorious, securing their ticket to the prestigious tournament. In an exciting turn of events, they also paved the way for Scotland to join them while leaving Norway and Erling Haaland watching from home.
Last Saturday, Spain faced off against Norway, and even without the formidable presence of Erling Haaland, it was clear that they meant business. The match proved no match for Rodri and La Roja, with a standout goal from Gavi. This resounding victory guaranteed their participation in EURO 2024, scheduled for next June in Germany.
Not too long ago, on match day seven, Scotland suffered a 2-0 loss to Spain. However, their earlier triumph against La Roja in March 2023 ultimately came to their rescue. Thanks to their previous success, Steve Clarke's side secured their place in the upcoming Euros.
Unfortunately, Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland will once again miss out on an international tournament. However, there's still a glimmer of hope for the Norwegians. Their last chance to qualify for EURO 2024 is through the nation's league playoffs.
Despite boasting two of the world's best players in Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard, it appears increasingly likely that Norway's success will remain elusive at the international level. As it currently stands, Germany, France, Scotland, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, and Portugal have all successfully qualified for EURO 2024.
The EURO 2024 qualifiers have undoubtedly delivered their fair share of excitement and disappointments, and as the journey continues, fans around the world eagerly anticipate the unfolding drama in the lead-up to the highly anticipated tournament.
