With all these wonderful Internationals, we really should start looking at the domestic league situation once again as they all kick off again this weekend….

And in England if you remember, it really was the opening of the firing season last week…   not that it ever wasn’t firing season…. In fact a quarter of the managers that started the campaign have already been sacked….

With Aston Villa’s Dean Smith and Norwich’s Daniel Farke the most recent victims…

But, Smith wasn’t out of work for long, already he has replaced Farke at the Canaries…. While his successor at Villa is Steven Gerrard which is rather exciting…. So, given these two clubs have made their managerial moves, how might they affect the outcome of this season?

Should we now be throwing down money on Norwich to survive and Villa to win the Prem?  No. Don’t do that.

Norwich are bad, like almost historically bad, they are legitimately competing with the Derby County side of 2007/2008 that finished with 11pts… the new man will be aiming to at least beat that mark…

Smith joined Villa don’t forget when they were League championship strugglers, and won promotion in his first year, I suspect that will be the expectation this time around at Norwich as well…

As for Stevie G and Villa?  It looks like a great fit for both parties, Villa are better than they’ve shown, and most observers felt Smith should have been given more time…. Still, Gerrard did a very nice job at Glasgow Rangers, ended Celtic’s dominance, and by all reports demands the same levels of excellence as a manager that he did as a player….

New manager bounce? Whether it’s myth or fact, I suspect Villa will enjoy one with Gerrard at the helm.
