Leylah Fernandez looks to advance to US Open Final

What’s going on tennis fans?  It is US Open Women’s Semifinal Thursday. And we have a Canadian, yes 19 year old Leylah Fernandez taking on World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka. 

Now Sabalenka is the favourite coming into this match at -450. She’s trying to get to her first Grand Slam final of her career.

But standing in her way is Fernandez, who has had quite the incredible run. She beat Naomi Osaka. She beat Angie Kerber. She beat No. 5 seed Elina Svitolina, en route to the semifinal.

I like Fernandez to pull off the upset with the +325 underdog pick. She absorbs a lot of power, delivers it right back, mixes up her shots. She’s crafty, she’s smart and you know the youngster is going to feed off of the Arthur Ashe Stadium energy.

So I like Fernandez to become just the second Canadian woman in the Open Era to reach the US Open Final. ‍
