Leicester City vs. Wolves : Preview, Odds, Predictions (April 22)
Initial Thoughts
With only a single point in their last nine games and second from bottom in the league, Leicester and new manager Dean Smith are in dire need of a win against Wolves on Saturday.
The Narrative
After five consecutive top ten finishes, an FA Cup win and a couple of European campaigns, Leicester City are skirting perilously close to the drop after finally parting ways with Brendan Rogers last month.
Rogers had fashioned the Foxes into a dangerous side in recent seasons, but this campaign Leicester City haven’t spent a single week in the top half of the Premier League table.
If fans were hoping for an inspirational replacement in the dugout, they didn’t quite get it with the appointment of ex-Norwich City boss Dean Smith, and the Scots tenure at the club got off to a rocky start with a 3-1 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad last weekend.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have looked much better since the appointment of ex-Spain and Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui back in November last year.
Wolves had amassed just two wins from 16 prior to the Spaniard’s appointment, but since Lopetegui took the reins the west Midlands side have racked up seven wins and three draws in their last 16 matches.
Nuts and Bolts
The history here is all about Leicester, but the form guide is all about Wolves.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have come away with a win on only a single occasion across their last 25 visits to the King Power Stadium, and the Foxes ran out 4-0 winners the last time these teams met back in October last year.
Wolves have also failed to find the net in each of their last five away fixtures against Leicester City in all competitions.
But Lopetegui could be about to change all that, with his side looking for their third Premier League win on the bounce, having beaten Chelsea and Brentford without conceding in their last two top flight outings.
As well as being stuck in the drop zone, Leicester are the only team in the division without a clean sheet in 2023. The Foxes have also collected just a single point from their last 810 minutes of football, and have scored more than once on only a single occasion across their last nine Premier League matches.
Pressure is on both sides with only seven matches left to play. Wolves are higher up the table in 13th place but have a tricky run-in to the end of the season. The Foxes can give themselves a much needed lifeline here, but the momentum is definitely with Lopetegui’s side heading into tomorrow’s fixture.

History favors another home win, which means Wolves are good value for a first ever Wolves win at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
Both teams not to score (-114)
Leicester have failed to find the net seven times at home this season, and we’re predicting another fruitless match for the Foxes tomorrow.
