We’re on the hunt for value on the NHL futures market. Threading that needle between who is playing, and asking if the universe will let the Maple Leafs have nice things.

When the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Jack Campbell last February, it was a move made with the intention of shoring up their backup goaltending situation. He had the pedigree of being a first round pick, but hadn’t put together a sustained run of top level play.

Things changed drastically for Campbell as a Maple Leaf, he set an NHL record by winning 11 straight games and that success has carried over in to the new season, where he is sporting a sparkling 1.94 Goals Against Average, and a league-leading .937 save percentage.

The Vezina Trophy is still anyone’s to win, with Campbell second behind Tampa’s Andrei Vasilevskiy. The Maple Leafs have been tearing up the regular season over the last two months, and Soupy is a huge reason why. If he keeps up the way he’s played this year, he’s great value to win the award at +700.
