They say a new coach can provide a spark… but does that saying still ring true if you didn’t necessarily need a change?

The Winnipeg Jets are about to put that to the test!

Last week’s coaching change didn’t come at the behest of the team’s general manager.

Outgoing bench boss Paul Maurice resigned unprompted, saying he has done all he can with the group they have.

Dave Lowry’s  first task as new head coach? Getting Mark Scheifele going. The 28-year-old has 19 points in 24 games, well short of expectations.

If the Jets’ stars start producing, this is a deep and talented team that should have no problem making the playoffs… and that bet presents great value.
