WTA Merida Open: Magda Linette vs. Panna Udvardy & Alycia Parks vs. Rebecca Peterson

World No.24 Magda Linette is the top seed at the inaugural WTA Merida Open Akron in Mexico, where she’ll take on Panna Udvardy of Hungary in a second round matchup today.

Linette arrives at the tournament on the back of an impressive run at the Australian Open last month, reaching a first ever Grand Slam semifinal, and racking up big victories against Karolina Pliskova and Caroline Garcia before losing out to the eventual winner Aryna Sabalenka.

Can the 31 year old continue her stellar form here?

American Alycia Parks is also in action in Mexico today, as the number five seed goes up against Rebecca Peterson of Sweden in a rematch of their WTA 125 final in Andorra last December.

Parks dropped just five games to claim the victory in that previous meeting, and the 22 year old has been in fine form since, scoring big wins over both Maria Sakkari and Karolina Pliskova. She also beat Caroline Garcia in Lyon to claim her first WTA 250 title.

Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships Quarterfinals: Jessica Pegula vs. Karolina Muchová

The Dubai Open enters the quarterfinal stage today with Jessica Pegula taking on Karolina Muchová at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre at 10.15 a.m. ET.

World No.112 Muchová scored a massive upset in the previous round, overcoming eighth seed Belinda Bencic in straight sets on Wednesday.

That win for Muchová was a first in three meetings between the two players, and it also ended Bencic’s seven game winning streak this year.

Jessica Pegula has had a great  start to the season, winning 13 of her 15 matches so far, and reaching the finals in Doha, where she lost out to World No.1 Iga Świątek.

Today’s matchup will be Pegula’s fifth quarterfinal on the bounce, and bar another massive upset from Muchová, expect the American to book her place in the semifinals this morning.

You can catch all of today’s action from both Mexico and Dubai on DAZN, the Tennis Channel, TVA Sports, and TSN.
