WTA Monterrey Open

At the Monterrey Open Canada’s Rebecca Marino will be back today after booking her place in the Round of 16 in Mexico.

The 32 year old overcame home favorite Fernanda Contreras Gómez in a gruelling clash that lasted over one hour and forty minutes - firing 11 aces to claim a 7-6(4), 7-6(4) victory.

World No.74 Marino will now take on 5th seed Lin Zhu of China, who booked her place in this Round of 16 clash courtesy of a straight sets win over Anna Bondár on Monday.

Zhu leads the head to head record between the two players 2-1, having overcome Marino in their last meeting at the Australian Open earlier this year.

And the Chinese ace is enjoying a fantastic start to 2023, making the last eight in Auckland, the fourth round of the Australian Open, and then claiming her maiden WTA title in Hua Hin.

Marino is the underdog, but can she score a dramatic upset and advance to the quarterfinals today?

Follow the game live on the Tennis Channel and TVA Sports from 3:30 p.m. ET.

LPGA HSBC Women's Championship

In women’s golf, the 15th edition of the HSBC Women’s World Championships will get underway in Singapore today, with 18 of the top 20 Rolex Ranked players in attendance.

World No.5 Jin Young Ko will return to Singapore to defend her title, after missing much of last season due to a wrist injury.

Ko is just one of a group of South Korean golfers who’ve dominated the event in recent years, with six of the last seven tournaments being scooped by Ko or her compatriots.

But all eyes will also be on Lilia Vu, after the American became the season’s first Rolex First-Time Winner, after claiming the Honda LPGA Thailand earlier this week.

You can catch all the action on Golf Channel at 9:30 p.m. ET.

WTA Austin Open

AT the ATX Open in Austin Texas, the competition has already been blown wide open, with the top seed Magda Linette eliminated in the first round.

And that will be music to the ears of Anastasia Potapova, who’s in action today against USA’s Katie Volynets.

Third seed Potapova is on a six-match winning streak after claiming her second WTA title in Linz earlier this month.

But Volynets may also fancy her chances after upsetting compatriot Alison Riske-Amritraj to book a place in the first round.

Check out all the action in Mexico on the Tennis Channel and TVA Sports, with Potapova vs. Volynets scheduled for 12 p.m. ET.
