And just like that, it’s another International break… and for our very own Canada, two huge matches against Costa Rica and Mexico, both in Edmonton, where the idea was it would be really cold… but the reality is, it might be rather nice for this time of year… still, it’s Alberta so it should be chilly… hopefully….

These are good times for Canada, John Herdman’s boys sit third on TEN points, two up on Panama in fourth…. That means an automatic qualifying spot for next years World Cup is in their hands… but with eight matches left, much can still go wrong… or right…and let’s sit there, let’s stay positive… and there’s reason to be positive, as the both as a team and as Individuals, all looks good….

For these matches, the team is healthy… unlike last time out… for example… goalkeeper Milan Bojan is available, recovered from Covid… he has played 2 matches for Red Star Belgrade since returning, so will be fresh… now Max Crepeau has been very good in his absence, but Bojan’s leadership is key….

Cyle Larin who missed the entire last window is back, Larin leads all scorers with nine goals in qualifying, and has played six times since the last window for Besiktas scoring 4 goals… he’s on form…. Teammate, and the teams soul Atiba Hutchinson also returns from missing the last three games, he has four appearances for Besiktas since then, and is yet play a full 90, he’ll be full of energy….

Jon David, back on the scoresheet against Panama, the Lille man has four more goals since, including a Champions League marker vs Sevilla…. And as for the star-man, Alphonso Davies?  5-1, 5-0, 5-0, 5-2 and 2-1… all wins for Bayern Munich since the last window, and Phone has a couple of assists in addition to big minutes….

All this bodes well for Canada, they are fit, in form, and ready to entertain the home crowd, which is already confirmed to be north of 40,000 for both matches.
