BVAC squash quarterfinals, must win matches at the T20 Cricket World Cup, and records broken at the ACC Swimming and Diving Championships
The Expression Networks BVAC Women’s Open
The Expression Networks BVAC Women’s Open got underway earlier this week with some of the best female squash players in the world gathering in Calgary, Alberta for the five day event.
The Challenger 10 level tournament runs alongside the Oxford Properties Canadian Men’s Open, with both events staged at the world famous Bow Valley Athletic Club.
As the women’s competition enters the round of 16 today, all four of the top seeds have successfully made it through to the quarterfinals.
France’s Enora Villard arguably has the easiest path to the semi finals, as she lines up against the unseeded Diana Garcia of Mexico. But Canada’s Nicole Bunyan will be hoping for a much improved performance today, after a narrow win against Chin Hei Fung in round two, that lasted a marathon 38 minutes.
Buyan will take on China’s Chen Nga Ching in the last of today's four quarterfinals, and you can catch all the action on CBC Sports.
Women's T20 Cricket World Cup 2023
At the Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa, Ireland Women will take on Pakistan this afternoon in a must-win matchup in Group B.
Both sides lost to respective arch rivals in their opening game of the tournament, with Pakistan Women losing by seven wickets to India, and Ireland Women suffering defeat at the hands of England.
But each side will come into today’s matchup feeling they can turn their fortunes around. Pakistan managed to put up 149 runs despite losing to India, while Ireland scored a major upset in the warm up by beating Australia - the defending champs and top rated side in the world.
Pakistan will need to shake off a four game losing run and that kind of pressure can easily go either way. So expect an entertaining clash against these two sides, with the match getting underway at 11:50 a.m. ET on ESPN+.
