Billie Jean King Cup, UFC Fight Night and NWSL returns…
Billie Jean King Cup: Canada vs. Belgium 5 p.m. ET Sportsnet NOW, OLN, TVA Sports 2
Team Canada will take on Belgium in the qualifying rounds of the Billie Jean King Cup this weekend, with Leylah Annie Fernandez and Rebecca Marino both in action in Vancouver.
World No. 50 Fernandez will go up against Yanina Wickmayer today, with Marino taking on Belgian No. 1 Ysaline Bonaventure.
The matches will then flip on Saturday, with Fernandez facing off with Bonaventure and Marino taking on Wickmayer.
Bonaventure beat both of the Canadian WTA players on consecutive days at the Auckland Open earlier this year. But Marino holds a 2-1 head-to-head lead over the 28 year old, having come out on top in their last meeting in Abu Dhabi.
Portland Thorns FC vs. Houston Dash 11:30 p.m. ET NWSLsoccer.com, CBS Sports Network, SiriusXM FC
After April’s international break, the NWSL is back tonight as Portland Thorns FC welcome the Houston Dash to Providence Park.
Portland are top of the league after a perfect start to the campaign and are also the division's highest scoring side with eight goals in their first two matches.
50% of those came courtesy of striker Sophia Smith, who bagged herself a hat trick against Kansas City after also finding the net in the season opener against the Orlando Pride.
Canada’s Christine Sinclair needs only one goal to make it 60 overall in the league, with no female player in history reaching that milestone for a single club.
Portland beat the Dash 4-0 when they last met in June last year. But the Thorns have never beaten Houston at Providence Park, making tonight’s game a must watch for footy fans.
Gillian Robertson vs. Piera Rodriguez 6:30 p.m. ET ESPN+, UFC Fight Pass
In tomorrow night’s UFC action, Gillian "The Savage" Robertson will be dropping down to strawweight to take on Panama's Piera Rodriguez who’s currently rated No. 25 in the division.
The T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, will play host to the event, with both up and coming fighters aiming to make further inroads on the highest stage of MMA.
Robertson is coming off of a Round 2 submission win against Mariya Agapova last year, and the 27 year old is known for her wealth of wrestling skill, with an average of two or more takedowns per fight.
Piera Rodriguez boasts a takedown defence rate of over 75 per cent, but her wrestling cardio may not quite be enough to sustain her over three rounds.
Having fought primarily at flyweight in the UFC, all eyes will be on Robertson’s ability to adjust to the strawweight on Saturday night.
