That collective sigh of relief you heard, or felt, late Tuesday afternoon was coming from everyone with a stake in the passing by the Senate of The Safe and Regulated Sports Betting Act. Or, more commonly known as Bill C-218 to those of us who’ve watched more Senate ParlVU than the Stanley Cup and NBA playoffs or Mare of Eastown episodes over the past several months.

In case you just walked off the 18th hole or were hiding in a dark place while the children finish a lousy year of online learning, the Senate gave the green light to the bill. It now goes to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, pinch-hitting for the vacant Governor-General’s seat, to grant final approval.
