‘I JUST WANT TO GET BACK TO PLAYING – I’LL DO WHAT I HAVE TO DO TO GET BACK ON THE PITCH.’

Footy Talks Live with Derek Rae and TFC’s Nick DeLeon

Another cracking episode of Footy Talks Weekly kicked off with the gang discussing the ‘bright lights’ of Burnley – courtesy of Stevie’s Turf Moor background.

Steering their focus back to North America, Luke and KJ broke the news of Jaap Stam’s purported appointment as Head Coach at FC Cincinnati, and discussed his potential impact on the league.

Legendary broadcaster and voice of FIFA ’20 – Derek Rae shared fantastic stories of his life on the sidelines, and as a Bundesliga expert gave his views on the meteoric rise of Alphonso Davies.

Rae explained how the Bundesliga is a great environment for promising young players, and broke down the story between city rivals Herta and Union Berlin.

‘Zooming’ in from his parked car – sitting right outside the TFC training ground, midfielder Nick DeLeon described the surreal experience of socially distanced team work.

DeLeon spoke about his own adjustment to life on lockdown and his desire to return to action as quickly as possible, with rumours of an imminent MLS tournament camp in Florida.

Describing some of his finest TFC goals DeLeon explained that practice makes perfect and that the confidence to hit shots from distance come from hours of repetition on the training field.
