19 Mar Kicking off a big week for women’s hockey with Puck Talks
On Thursday, at The Rivoli in Toronto, Puck Talks is hosting a Women’s Hockey Show in the leadup to the 2019 Clarkson Cup. The panel event will feature discussions with current players, writers and front office staff from the women’s game. The event is free with an RSVP.
“What this event won’t focus on is the tired narrative comparing women’s hockey to men’s hockey in any way,” said Homestand Sports founder Kevin Kennedy. “The players on the show are literally some of the best in the world. So we’re going to talk about hockey.”
Canadian Olympians Renata Fast and Laura Stacey headline the event, while Shea Tiley of the Toronto Furies and Jamie Rattray of the Markham Thunder will also join the player’s panels. Thunder GM Chelsea Purcell and Furies’ Director of Business Strategy Katrina Galas will be part of our Front Office panel.
The Athletic’s women’s hockey writer Hailey Salvian and TSN’s Mark Masters will serve as co-hosts for the night. There will also be time for audience Q & A for the panellists.
It all gets underway at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are still available by clicking here, and are FREE until noon tomorrow when they become $10 so make sure to grab them as quickly as possible.
The event comes in the lead-up to Sunday’s Clarkson Cup final in Toronto and the CWHL awards night. Salvian, as well as the players themselves, will have plenty of insight on both topics.
“We’re excited to join the conversation leading up to the Clarkson Cup which should be an amazing game!” said Kennedy.
