A night of Hockey Stories with The Athletic Toronto

Tomorrow’s Puck Talks event at The Rivoli will be a little bit different. It’s Hockey Stories night with The Athletic Toronto, a chance to hear some of the best tales of the game told live.

“I think some of the feedback we have received during the years doing this, is that people really enjoy the inside stories,” says The Athletic’s Scott Wheeler.

“We are going to focus a little less on the Xs and Os of hockey and turn our attention to the really cool stories we’ve done over the years.”

That will include a behind-the-scenes look at several of the site’s best features, including Dan Robson’s article on Ray Emery,  Wheeler finding out what it’s like to travel on the road as an ECHL playerScott Fitz-Gerald on the life of Curtis Joseph and Joshua Kloke on hockey agentsThe event is FREE with an RSVP.

“I decided to make this event free because we’re trying out a new format,” says Homestand Sports founder Kevin Kennedy. “I’m really excited about it and want to pilot it to our audience.”

On top of this, one lucky non-Athletic subscriber who attends can win a one-year subscription. Come find out what the site is all about. Limited edition The Athletic pilsner will also be available at the event.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Then, next Thursday night at The Rivoli, it’s our Women’s Hockey Show. We will be previewing the Clarkson Cup between Les Canadiennes and the Inferno and talking about the sport in general with host Hailey Salvian (The Athletic) alongside Canadian women’s national team players Renata Fast and Laura Stacey, and Jamie Rattray of the Markham Thunder.

That event is also free with an RSVP. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the panel getting underway at 7:30 p.m.
