28 Feb Homestand announces new partnerships and star-studded March lineup
It’s an incredibly exciting time of year for Homestand Sports. The company has been very busy behind the scenes putting together a series of unique and unforgettable events that will take place over the next month.
In March, the company hosts two massive soccer viewing parties in two major Canadian cities, a Puck Talks in an NHL arena and some heavy-hitters for Pitch and Hoops Talks.
“We have a special run of events coming up,” said Homestand Sports founder Kevin Kennedy. “It’s been really exciting to expand on our partnerships with The Athletic, with Kristian Jack and Steven Caldwell and with LaLiga. We are also excited to begin a new partnership with the Calgary Flames, it’s exciting to work with an NHL team on an event.”
It all starts tonight with a live taping of A Football Podcast with TSN’s Kristian Jack and Steven Caldwell at The Rivoli. They will be joined onstage by an incredible list of guests, including Toronto FC’s Jonathan Osorio and Justin Morrow. Limited tickets are still available.
“Me personally, I’m a Toronto FC season ticket holder and my soccer interest just grows every year, so I’m really excited about tonight’s event,” said Kennedy. “It’s always good to get active players out on the stage interacting with true fans that attend our events.”
The week of soccer continues on Saturday. For the first time, Homestand will be hosting simultaneous watch parties in two major Canadian cities: Montreal and Toronto. The events are centred around ElClásico in partnership with LaLiga.
“LaLiga have been great partners,” said Kennedy. “They are dedicated to growing the game and growing interest in LaLiga in Canada. It has just been nice to see the investment that they are making in this country.”
Then on March 15, Puck Talks and The Athletic Calgary host a very special event at the Scotiabank Saddledome, home of the Calgary Flames. For $99, fans are treated to an unforgettable VIP experience.
“They get to come to the Saddledome, have dinner, watch the live pre-game panel with some of the top Flames beat writers from The Athletic and then go watch the game live. It’s really a hockey fan’s dream.”
The Athletic Calgary panel will feature Eric Duhatschek, Darren Haynes and Scott Cruickshank.
Towards the end of the month of March, baseball is back. To celebrate, Pitch Talks is hosting a viewing party for the Blue Jays opening day game against the Detroit Tigers at The Rec Room on March 28.
The event will feature the hosts of the Yahoo! Sports Digging In Podcast: Nick Ashbourne and former Blue Jay J.P. Arencibia.
Finally, March 30 will be the return of The Starters to Canada. The popular NBA TV show will be doing a live show at The Rec Room before sticking around to watch Raptors-Bulls with fans. This is the third event with Hoop Talks and The Starters.
“This year especially, I think interest in the Raptors has never been higher,” said Kennedy. “They are North American basketball icons, their version of comedy and basketball talk is so entertaining.”
